So many years had passed. So many years had they gone without a master that they were used to it. Nobody had really been worthy enough to be their master since Toulon. That was going to change however, when the workers came to the Bodega bay inn. A young woman had been clumsy enough to stumble over the large black case and bring it home with her to her elder sister. The young woman's name was Lilly MacAvoy and her sister's name was Helen. She was eighteen years old, while Helen was twenty-eight. A ten year age difference wasn't bad but Lilly sometimes wished for Helen to be a little younger. Upon opening the black case the sisters saw five puppets. They were odd if not creepy looking. "My God, what kind of puppets are these?!" Helen asked. "I'm not quite sure but I think this little book in here can help." Lilly replied, taking the small diary of Toulon's out from the case.
Thankfully there was an English translation of the German text. "Helen.... This text says if I give the puppets this formula, they'll come to life!" Helen was taken aback. "N-no way. You can't! I mean look at these things! They look like they could kill us!" Lilly smiled, "Maybe they won't. I think if we treat them kindly, they'll be good."
"Fine. But as a test run, you should do the one that's like a little Jester first!" Helen replied, "That one's kinda cute to tell you the truth!" Lilly laughed. "Alright, let's do it!" Taking the syringe and bottle of formula, Lilly injected the life giving serum into the puppet and watched him come to life...
When Jester finally regained his senses and whereabouts, he noticed he wasn't in the inn anymore. In fact Jester came to realize that he was in a large house and there were two girls looking at him, smiling at him. "Aw, look at 'em!" Helen cried, "He's just adorable!" Helen went to poke Jester, but quickly got her finger pushed away and Jester's expression changed from devious to scared.
"Whoa, whoa, little guy!" Lilly cried, signaling Helen to back off, "It's alright. We're not here to hurt you. We just wanna know who you are and who your friends are. I'm not gonna hurt you." Helen extended a finger to Jester, to show she meant no ill will and Jester accepted. He climbed into hand, his face changing from scared to happy and gladly took a seat on her arm. "My, aren't you the affectionate one!" Lilly exclaimed, laughing. Jester giggled along with her, seeing it was the only noise he could make that the girls would understand.
Lilly flipped through more pages until she got to the page where it mentioned the puppet's names. Helen went through all the names. The only puppet she was unsure of was Blade. One by one, Lilly awoke the puppets from their age old slumber. Blade was last.
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING ON THAT GIRL'S SHOULDER?!
Please Blade calm down. I think we have a new master... She seems nice enough, yes?
Great. Just perfect.
Blade, just give her a chance. Jester already likes her and I take it as a good sign!
Mrs. Leech, after all the masters we've been through, you expect me to give this young one a chance? You're kidding.
Look, partner, we've been through this before. If she ain't no good, then we kill 'er. In the mean time, I think y'all should be glad we even got a new master!
All Lilly and Helen heard was a series of giggles, evil sounding chuckles, hissing, grunts, and some sighs. "We have, Jester, Blade, Six-Shooter, Leech Woman, and Tunneler. I think that's it. I think you should introduce us to the puppets." Helen said. Lilly nodded.
"Um pardon me for interrupting... but I just felt an introduction was necessary. My name is Lilly and this is my older sister Helen." Six-Shooter took his hat off as a sign of a respectful greeting, Jester waved as well as Tunneler. Mrs. Leech curtsied politely and Blade waved his knife hand. "I suppose I'm your new master now, according to Toulon's diary, anyone who awakens you automatically you becomes your master. So that's me I suppose! If you'd like, I'll give you a tour of the house. A noise of agreement was made by Lilly's new puppets. The first room that was shown was the living room, then the kitchen, the bathroom, Helen's room, and last but not least, Lilly's room. It was nice and spacious, her bed was big too. Jester liked the bed, it was big and comfortable. Mrs. Leech especially liked the big book shelf. Blade didn't really like anything yet, seeing he didn't know Lilly that well. Jester already liked Lilly. She seemed sweet and kind enough... but that was how all the new masters began. Throughout the rest of the day, Lilly spent time learning about the differing personalities of the puppets. She almost immediately loved Jester the moment he climbed on her arm. Her bed would be his favorite spot.
Jester gave Lilly the privilege to hold him and cradle him as the day wore on. "You're a cute little one, you are." Lilly chuckled at Jester's odd giggle. She playfully bopped him on the nose and Jester gave a fullhearted laugh at that. No wonder Toulon loved him so much. Jester was adorable and had a great personality to boot! Lilly thought, grinning. The next few minutes, Lilly spent playing with Jester. Jester liked climbing on top of her and jumping down.
Blade felt a twinge of jealousy tug at him. Why couldn't he get any attention from Lilly? But of course, Jester had always been a favorite of any master. He heard a loud squeal come from Jester, his spikes popped out from his sockets ready to attack. When he looked however, he saw that his brother was in no real danger. Lilly was just tickling the crap out of Jester, causing loud laughter to erupt, along with an occasional squeal. Blade smirked amusingly at the spectacle, it was nice to see his brother laughing, rather then being sad about not having a master.
H-help me please! She's gonna make me pee! She's gonna kill me!
Why should I? You're not dying. Besides, if you were in real danger, you wouldn't be laughing. Besides, Jes, It's pretty funny! Haha!
It's only funny 'till it happens to you! Gah! Blade c'mon, help your little brother! hahahaha! Make her stop!!!
Hmmmmm. I've thought about it and.... nope! haha, looks like you're on your own! I'm not getting involved!
You're just scared that she's gonna come after you!
Jester was in hysterics, he hadn't laughed like this for years. It felt good though, seeing a lot of the time, the puppets spent time doing the master's bidding, killing anyone who hurt them or their master, so it felt good to have a master that knew how to kick back and have a good time. Lilly was laughing along with Jester, "Good God Jester! Are you related to The Joker?! That laugh makes me think so!" Jester squirmed trying to evade Lilly's fingers, with little success. Lilly smirked. "OK Jester, I'll stop. Only because I think, it'd be fun to to this to Blade..."
In short, Blade had escaped for now. Lilly laughed and told Blade, she'd get him. The puppets were slowly warming up to Lilly, with the exception of Blade who was still suspicious. When the day was done, Lilly settled into her bed to watch a movie. Settling upon Batman Forever and the first Tim Burton Batman film. Needless to say, Blade almost killed himself laughing at the permanent grin that had been plastered on The Joker's face at the start of his transformation. "Alright Blade, breathe!" Lilly said giggling at the rasping hiss of a laugh coming from Blade. Three hours later at ten o clock pm, Lilly went to bed for the night. Around 1 am, Lilly felt movements, beneath her blankets and saw it was Jester. "Oh you wanna sleep with me?" Lilly asked. Jester nodded. "Alright, little buddy." Jester snuggled into Lilly's chest and felt both himself and Lilly drift into sleep. Blade, remained awake, keeping watch over his friends and new master.
